Los premios otorgados por la Academia de Cine y Artes de Estados Unidos se llevarán a cabo el domingo 9 de febrero de 2020 en el Dolby Theatre de Los Angeles, California
Las tendencias se han marcado según las previas entregas en los Golden Globe y los Critic’s Choice. Algunos nombres podrían repetir, más no es obligatorio y los resultados podrían variar.
Los premios para Mejor Actor, Actriz, Actor de Reparto y Actriz de Reparto han repetido en ambas ceremonias. Estos han sido para Joaquin Phoenix (Joker), Renée Zellweger (Judy), Brad Pitt (Érase una vez… en Hollywood) y Laura Dern (Historia de un matrimonio), respectivamente.
Aunque Tarantino no ha ganado como Mejor Director, sí se ha llevado el premio a Mejor Historia Original/ Guion con Érase una vez… en Hollywood. Esta, además, ha ganado en ambas ceremonias como Mejor Película (en los Critic’s) y Mejor Película Musical o de Comedia (en los Golden).
Por su parte, la revelación musical es la compositora de la cinta Joker, la islandesa Hildur Guðnadóttir, con ambos premios para su Score Original.
El también compositor y leyenda viviente, John Williams, está nominado por su Score Original a Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, rompiendo su propio récord, al obtener su nominación número 52 en los Oscars. Su primer llamado fue en 1968 con el filme Valley of Dolls. Se encuentra sólo detrás de Walt Disney quien tuvo 59.
Parásitos, de Bong Joon-Ho, también ostenta dos premios como Mejor Película Extranjera.
En cuanto a directores, Sam Mendes se llevó el reconocimiento con 1917 en los Golden, mientras que en los Critic’s, empató en el mismo rubro, junto con Bong Joon-Ho.
Joker es la cinta con mayor número de menciones, un total de 11. Con 10 se encuentran: Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, The Irishman y 1917.
